A beginner’s guide to meditation
I remember one of the yogi’s in training asking our instructor, Judi Harvin, original owner of Focus Om, current owner of Soul Farm Retreats. - “Does meditation get easier ?”
I remember hearing my own voice in my head and wanting to answer her, “yes, it does.” At that time, I had been practicing meditation and yoga for about 11+ years, and didn't want to sound like a braggart. After all, this was my first YTT, some skills still needed refinement, and I was a beginner here. But to answer the question in the present moment, YES, your practice will get easier with the right mindset, approach, and most importantly practice.
Distractions will happen even to the most experience individual. Our brains are adaptable to change as well as our body. In my option, begin with an intention and create a pattern.
A beginner’s guide to meditation is simple, be present. Be clear, be confident , and be patient. Come as you are. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, sit in the moment of your surroundings. Be bold, be brave, be unafraid.
In Sanskrit terms, Samskara is derived from two roots; sam meaning ‘well planned’ or ‘well thought out’, and kara meaning ‘the action under-taken.’
